Terms of service
Last updated 8 October 2026
These terms apply when The Plan Pal prepares drawings, plans, designs or documents for you. Your quote and these terms together form our agreement.
1. Quotes and what's included
Every quote is a fixed price for the work described in it, based on the information you send us. If the project changes in a way that adds work, we'll tell you and agree any extra cost before we do it. Quotes are valid for 30 days.
2. What we need from you
We work from the photos, measurements and information you provide, without visiting the property. You're responsible for making sure that information is accurate and complete. Your builder or tradespeople should check key dimensions on site before ordering materials or starting work.
3. Changes and amendments
We'll amend your drawings until they match what you asked for. If the council asks for changes to an application, we'll amend the drawings free of charge as long as the scope of the project stays the same.
4. Approvals are not guaranteed
Planning and building control decisions are made by your council, or by the Planning Inspectorate on appeal. We can't guarantee that any application will be approved, and our fee covers the work we produce, not the outcome. Council, Planning Portal and building control fees are paid by you directly.
5. Submitting applications
Unless your quote says otherwise, you submit your own applications using our step-by-step guide. Party wall notices, and any other notices or consents, are your responsibility.
6. Engineers and other professionals
Structural calculations are provided by a structural engineer you appoint, and their fee is paid directly to them. We add their details to our drawings but aren't responsible for their design.
7. Payment
Payment terms are set out in your quote. We release final drawings once they've been paid for.
8. Cancelling
If you're a consumer, you have 14 days after accepting a quote to cancel. If you ask us to start work during those 14 days and then cancel, you pay for the work done up to that point.
9. Copyright
We keep the copyright in our drawings and designs. Once you've paid, you have a licence to use them for your project at the property named in the quote, including sharing them with your council, builder and tradespeople.
10. Our responsibility
We prepare our work with reasonable skill and care. Our total liability to you is limited to the fee you paid for the work, except where the law doesn't allow us to limit it, such as for death or personal injury caused by negligence. This doesn't affect your statutory rights.
11. Complaints and law
If you're not happy, email hello@theplanpal.co.uk and we'll do our best to put it right. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
